PVES Fall Newsletter

We are well into the school year and have settled in nicely. By now students and teachers know each other well and we are hitting our stride. Fall is a busy time of year for everyone and we appreciate your continued support of our students. Kids succeed when we work together.

  • Literacy night was well attended and we served almost 500 people. This is a great community and we always have great participation at our events. We hope you can use some of the games and tools that you received that evening.
  • The elementary has purchased Fast ForWord for this school year. The program is designed to work on multiple facets of reading and is available to all students in our school district. Research has proven that it can be a highly effective intervention for students behind in reading and actually physically changes the brain. It can be done at home with any device and internet connection. If you are interested, please contact your child’s teacher.
  • Our math program is going very well. Students seem to be enjoying it and I can already see that they are thinking more deeply and conceptually. We are excited to see the impact after students have been in the program for multiple years.
  • Parent teacher conferences are coming up. The elementary school always strives for 100% attendance and we get close every year. It is an important time to share information and to collaboratively help students that may be having challenges. You can sign up on the front page of the website or call if you need assistance.
  • PTC meets the second Monday of every month. It is a great group and they contribute a great deal to our school. They are always looking for volunteers to help with special projects or in the classroom. If you are interested, feel free to show up to any meeting for more information.
  • The District Accountability Committee is an organization that advise our district on numerous topics. Meetings are quarterly and it is a good way to stay informed and offer your input and opinions. If you are interested, please call the district office and we can provide more information
